Our Colorado fly fishing schools and classes are excellent for beginners and experienced anglers alike. Whether you are brand new to fly fishing, or would like to learn a little more about the sport, we cater our schools and classes to your ability. You will receive in depth instruction on casting, knot tying, fly selection, reading water, gear, entomology and much more. Each day you will spend some time at our private riverside cabin going over class room instruction. From there you will spend the rest of your day fly fishing on private water with your instructor. The old adage “10% of Anglers catch 90% of the fish” is true . Our Fly Fishing Prep School is geared towards the intermediate- advanced fly fisherman looking to take the last giant steps towards really putting more fish in the net. Prep School is also perfect for the angler who uses guides. Often times we see experienced anglers spend a large part of the time on a guide trip re learning certain basics. Wouldn’t it be great to step into that investment prepared to fish from start to finish? Our fly fishing prep school is a 3 day class that combines classroom learning with on the river training and fishing. You will be learning everything from multiple fly rigs, Streamer fishing, spey casting, mending, fishing from a boat and more. Our Fly Fishing Prep School will be held at our headquarters in Wolcott, Colorado on the Eagle River and limited to 4 anglers (2-1 student to teacher ratio). All classes and fishing except for the float portion will take place on private water (Vail Rod and Gun Club, home of the 2016 World Championships of Fly Fishing). We provide all the equipment necessary, but if you already have your own gear, you are welcome to bring it.
