WINTER FLY FISHING TRIPS

Winter Fly Fishing in Vail Colorado is another activity to enjoy for tourists and locals alike. Many of our winter days are above freezing and full of sunshine which allow for comfortable fly fishing conditions. During winter months we offer discounted rates on our guided wade trips and also put our anglers on some of the best private water in Eagle County. Since most of you are here to ski, you already have the proper clothing for spending an afternoon on the Eagle River. We have the rest.

TYPICAL TRIP

Our Winter Fly Fishing trips generally start around 11 AM and end by 3:30 PM so we are on the river during optimal fishing time. Our friendly guides can pick you up at your Vail location or if you prefer to meet us you can do that too. We will be wade fishing on the Eagle River and like above mentioned we will put you on private water if it is available. We provide all the equipment you will need to spend and afternoon with us. Waders, wading boots, fly rod & reel and terminal tackle are all included in our rates. Our guides will also provide soft drinks, water and snacks. After your fishing trip our guides will have you back in time for Après Ski or you can have your own Après at our private river front cabin.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During the winter we will primarily be nymph fishing for Rainbow & Brown Trout in slow deep pools along the Eagle River. There is no need to make long perfect casts and our seasoned guides provide instruction for anglers of all abilities. All fishing is catch and release but we will be sure to take plenty of images of your catch and share them with you at the end of the day. The weather can be chilly but with the right layering you will be comfortable while fishing for the afternoon. We recommend that you wear long underwear or sweat pants, wool socks, fleece jacket or similar, fingerless gloves, stocking cap, sunglasses and a neck gaiter. In addition to these items each guest need to purchase a Colorado Fishing License.
