Winter Fly Fishing Trips
Fly Fishing VAil in Winter
Winter Fly Fishing in Vail Colorado is another activity to enjoy for tourists and locals alike. Many of our winter days are above freezing and full of sunshine which allow for comfortable fly fishing conditions.
What To Expect
Pickup
Regardless of the trip you choose to do, our guides will pick you up at your location or you can meet us at our private cabin in Wolcott, CO.
Catch & Release
Once you are at our fishing destination our professional fly fishing guides will work with you on the water and educate you on fly fishing techniques. We practice Catch and release so all fish caught must be released immediately.
Fishing Day
During the winter we will primarily be nymph fishing for Rainbow & Brown Trout in slow deep pools along the Eagle River. There is no need to make long perfect casts and our seasoned guides provide instruction for anglers of all abilities. Our guides also have a cooler full of ice cold beverages for your convenience as well as snacks to munch on during your trip.
The weather can be chilly but with the right layering you will be comfortable while fishing for the afternoon. We recommend that you wear long underwear or sweat pants, wool socks, fleece jacket or similar, fingerless gloves, stocking cap, sunglasses and a neck gaiter.
Wrap Up
After an excellent day of fly fishing our guides will drive you back to your location. If you have any medical or dietary needs please let us know at the time of booking so we can better assist you. We look forward to bringing you and your guests on a Colorado Fly Fishing Wade Trip.
