Fishing Report Colorado River July 2019
Fishing on the Colorado River has improved despite higher water levels. The current river flows are 3150 CFS in Kremming, Colorado. Trout are holding in the softest water you can find. Caddis, PMD’s, Stones and Midges are working well under an indicator. Smaller Dries such as, Royal Wuff, Renegade, Adams, Patriot and PMX, have been doing well in the evening. Your best bet for fishing the Colorado River is a float trip. This allows you to access some of the big re-circulators which are currently holding a lot of fish. Our guided trips are floating below State Bridge and having good success day to day. Once water levels drop expect trout to move into their usual lies and the dry fly fishing to pick up. The streamer fishing has been hit and miss with larger articulated patterns turning some big trout. Black, Olive, Natural, & Silver have all been getting attention close to the bank.
If you plan on floating the Colorado River please us caution as water levels are high and fast. The canyon section near Pump House should be taken seriously and we recommend going with someone who is familiar with the river.
