Eagle River Fly Fishing Report
The Eagle River has been fishing well despite higher flows. Find the softer seams and you will find plenty of trout. Eagle River flows have been hovering between 1100 – 1200 CFS and should begin to drop consistently throughout the month. Water temps are still a little chilly in the mid to upper 40’s with most of the fish keying in on smaller baetis and caddis nymphs as well as midges. Expect to see incredible Caddis and Yellow Sally hatches once water temps reach the 50’s.
Fly Patterns that have been getting attention are; Pink Squirmy Worm, Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails, Eggs, Sparkle Wing RS2’s, Barrs Emerger, Two Bit Hooker, Rainbow Warrior and Zebra Midges. The streamer bite has been hit or miss. Our guides have been most of their streamer fishing from a raft which is a great way to cover a lot of water and find aggressive trout. White, Black, Yellow and Olive streamer patterns have all been getting attention. Stop by the shop on 102 Main Street in Minturn for flies and accessories. See you on the river.
